Another Summer School successfully concluded, but not without the endless help and support from a large number of volunteers, both Victorian and from other
branches. Anyone who attended would have seen with their own eyes how much Waka Sensei seemed to be enjoying himself. After getting over an infection,
which prevented him from socialising with the Next GEN people the night of his arrival, he improved rapidly and must have trained with just about everyone
in the dojo during his four excellent classes!
Again, we had a wealth of experience and talent from our visiting seniors Takase Shihan, Lee Shihan and van Thieghem Shihan and some amazing instruction from our own Smibert Shihan, Botterill Shihan and Janiv Shihan. The afternoon sessions were taken up showcasing some of our 'younger' instructors and the extraordinary depth of knowledge among our female instructors, including Peyser Sensei from NY Aikikai. Peyser Sensei stayed on after the event to take some extra classes in sunny Melbourne before heading back to a very cold New York.
To everyone who contributed to this event a heartfelt thanks from the Board of Aiki Kai Australia and the members of the TTC. Although they don't always get the chance to thank you personally for all that you've done they are aware of your personal effort. It's a wonderful testament to the spirit of the organisation that so many people give their time and experience to make these events so very special.
