Aikido Victoria Fundraising

We are hopeful that Sensei will be able to attend Summer School and Aikido Victoria is seeking to fund raise in Victoria to cover anymedical costs associated. We are also planning long term fund raising to cover the ongoing costs of mats for the State.
Please visit the fundraising page often for details of these initiatives.

Passing of Tamura Shihan

Some of you may not be aware of the passing of Tamura Shihan. Please see the link below for some details. As many students know, Sugano Sensei invited him to his Summer School some years ago. He had tried for some time to get him to Australia. It was a very memorable school indeed. Some of us were lucky enough to train with him again at the IAF in 2008.

Children's Classes at CHD

Children's classes are being held at CHD in 2010 during the school terms. These will commence on Saturday 17th July. The classes will begin at 9am and end at 10am.

Purchase of new mats

You may notice a pile of new mats at CHD. Aikido Victoria has purchased 24 new acromats mats for a princely sum of approx $6,500. These mats will be deployed at CHD which will improve the uniformity of the appearance of the mats at CHD. The lightest weight mats will then be moved to Heidelberg dojo once a new frame mechanism has been devised by Leon Sensei. The old jigsaw mats will be transported at some stage to Bendigo, when new premises are secured.

This investment represents a significant cost for Aikido Victoria. So that we can purchase new mats inside of the next 10 years the fund raising projects that I hope to announce shortly will be seeking to jointly raise funds for Sensei as as well as Aikido Victoria.

Saturday 24th July - Special day of training - Caulfield Dojo

Come to Caulfield dojo in mid winter and enjoy the only dojo with heating. It is a very large dojo and the training emphasis will be on jiyu waza and multiple attackers.

We are featuring one of Australia's most senior aikidoka: John Watson Sensei, (Roku dan). John Sensei is a member of Aiki Kai Australia's Technical and Teaching Committee (TTC). In addition James Waller Sensei (yon dan) will also be teaching. James Sensei is renowned for his no sweat extreme flexibility aikido.

TTC Training & Kyu Gradings

We had 72 attendances at the TTC/Grading day on June 5th, one of our busiest days. The condensation was running down the walls in true CHD fashion as Robert Shihan put us through our paces.
